Ridden by Canada's Eric Lamaze, Hickstead has won countless Grand Prix events worldwide. He represented Canada in 10 Nations Cup classes.  His many international wins include the 2008 Olympic individual gold and team silver medalist, the 2007 $1 million CN International at Spruce Meadows and  team silver and individual bronze at the 2007 Pan American Games. Hickstead also won the $100,000 CN World Cup Grand Prix in Toronto in November, and the €175,000 Rolex World Cup Grand Prix in Geneva in December.

Hickstead is a small stallion with a huge work ethic. He combines  scope, power, technique, intelligence and temperment. Into a triple, this horse have to be hold back rather than push forward and he jumped just as enthusiastically after a three day show as the first day.

Hickstead is by the International Grand Prix jumper Hamlet out of the star Preferent mare Jomara. Jomara is by the well-known and recently deceased stallion, Ekstein . Jomara's great -granddam Homara (Amor X Domare (sire Olaf van Wittenstein) has also produced the preferent prestatie mare Nomara (sire Hannassi XX). Her daughter Vomara (sire Farn) was a national  level jumper.  Vomara's grandaughter Iomara (sire Libero H) was also a successful jumper at ZZ level. Iomara, in turn, is the granddam of the KWPN approved stallion Sydney (Goodtimes X Loamara s. Alasca)

Hickstead's bloodlines also feature such prominent show-jumping names as Nimmerdor, Notaris, Ulft, Le Mexico and Joost.

Based on his performance record, Hickstead was ranked the number one show jumping horse in the world by the World Breeding Federation of Sport Horses (WBFSH) in 2008. He was also named 'Stallion of the Year' for 2008 by the KWPN.

Hickstead is now approved KWPN based upon his International success.
